22 April: Far from home.

The flowers left thick at nightfall in the wood
This Eastertide call into mind the men,
Now far from home, who, with their sweethearts, should
Have gathered them and will do never again.
Edward Thomas wrote this poem, IN MEMORIAM (Easter, 1915), before he joined up and went to the front.

Sorry this appeared a month early! But the flowers are well and truly out in Kent: open your eyes and see them. And we live in hope that the bees find the apricot flowers and give us fruit this year.

Not many flowers yet in my North facing garden. 🙂 Alas the frogspawn didn’t make it and turned into jelly. I think I am responsible as I tried to lift a plant that had fallen into the pond (thank you storm Gareth) and disturbed the eggs… I hope your frogs are well. And thank you for the lovely card ! 😊

Don’t beat you breast too much. In the wild, the little beasts would almost all die before growing legs. Let’s see what next Spring brings!
